There's an October baby in the house, care of my aide Cindy (the dog lady). Her sister's barn cats had a litter. I ended up with Sam, who chose me. He's six weeks old, so technically not an October baby, but I acquired him yesterday, so. He's slightly smaller than a baseball, has bright blue eyes, and is short-to-medium haired--white with a black cap and a black cape and tail.
Athena is not impressed. She's not hostile, but she hides and hisses if Sam mews or moves. I hope Athena adjusts soon. I know it's only been a day, but I dislike upsetting her. I keep loving on them both, trying to reassure them.
Sam is so tiny! We have to feed and water him using an eyedropper. He is potty trained, which is good. In two weeks we'll get his shots and a general check-up. His right eye is funky and usually sealed shut. We wash it daily, to no avail. It's probably conjunctivitus; the vet agreed over the phone, and suggested we continue cleaning it as we've been.
Sam's favorite thing is to sleep in my shirt (I roll up the bottom like a hammock to cradle him). He is utterly affectionate and attached to me like an adorable tumor. Unfortunately it's difficult to type with him nestled in my shirt (like now), and I have to be careful sleeping so I don't squish him (no matter where we place him at night, he climbs my bed sheets and has to be either snuggled up near my chest or on me).
I'll take photos Saturday. >:-)
Love!
