Visit by a fox.
Apr. 20th, 2007 01:06 pmLast night at 8:35 PM, we paused between cartoons to discuss the recent American Indian gathering + camp-out the boys attended. As we talked, an odd and seemingly rhythmic noise outside caught our attention.
cyberwolf007 rose and opened the east-facing window above the heating/cooling unit.
The noise was shockingly loud; the perpetrator must have been directly beneath the window, among the raspberry bushes and artichoke plants. The neighbor turned on his porch-light momentarily as his dog barked.
The sound, emitted at regular intervals for several minutes, was like a sharp cough-bark-hiss.
ndn_2spirit_den announced without hesitation that it was a fox. Given that a pair of red fox live somewhere in our neighborhood, this isn't surprising.
Still, what a neat visit! It's somewhat unfortunate that we couldn't see it in the darkness. It was quite close, and just hearing it and knowing it's proximity was a treat. >:-D
