But I don't have any werelynx stories.
:(
So I'll offer you this instead:
From "Shamanic Wisdom II--The Way of the Animal Spirits" by Dolfyn &
Swimming Wolf (copyright 1994 by Earthspirit, Inc.)
We know less about this mysterious cat than we do about the larger cats,
for Lynx is perhaps the most elusive and secrative of all the felines.
She lives in wilderness areas of Canada, Alaska, and the northernmost
regions of the United States, and subsists mainly on Showshoe Hare.
Lynx is the Medicine Keeper of the ancient mysteries and deep subconscious
secrets. Her medicine wisdom concerns occult wisdom, positive magic and
the wise use of power. Invoke Lynx (and feel honored if she comes) for
developing great psycichic powers and deep intuitive wisdom.
All cats are keepers of mystery powers (which is why they are so highly
regarded in Egyptian and Tibetan monasteries), but Lynx is the most
secretive keeper of the deepest mysteries. You should work with the
medicine power of Lynx only when you feel grounded and well-balanced, for
it is powerful medicine.
Lynx represents all that is fleeting, elusive, rare, hard to hold, yet
beautiful. Lynx possesses a refined, subtle energy--always alert, always
aware. By invoking Lynx, we may discern the subtle shades and
implications of a situation and see through the secret deception of
others.
Lynx knows the value of silence. She knows that silence holds many
secrets that we fail to comprehend because we spend so much time bombarded
by various types of noise -- talk, television, stereos, traffic, etc.
Lynx is the keeper of silence. Invoke her if you seek a quiet life in a
quiet atmosphere.

Actually Lynx is helping me think before I speak, and she is teaching
me the power of silence (particularly in regards to bragging about my
personal knowledge/power).

Yes, I wouldn't mind hearing a Raven story either.

OK: THE LEGEND OF RAVEN
The world was in darkness. Raven knew the sun, moon and stars were held
captive by a great magician who kept them hidden in three boxes in his
lodge. In hopes of retrieving them all, Raven changed himself into a
baby, and had himself born of the magician's only daughter.
With keen, Raven-sharp vision, the baby soon spotted his quest. He cried
and carried on until the old magician, a doting grandfather, finally took
the treasured, secret boxes down from the shelf. When no one was looking,
Raven pried open the first box. And with a skyrocketing swoosh, the stars
shot to safety through the smoke hole in the roof.
Just as the dust began to settle, there can another loud whoom! And just
as quickly, the silver moon escaped in a billowing puff of smoke.
The third box proved more difficult. No matter how the baby pried and
pulled, there was no budging the lock. So, with a "Caw! Caw! Caw!" he
changed back into raven, took the box bearing the sun under wing and
soared off into the night.
Raven searched the darkness, 'til finally finding villagers willing to
exchange the sun's light for food. He unlocked his box, and a blinding
light rushed over the world. People spilled from their canoes in all
directions. Those who dove overboard became otters and seals. Those who
swam for shore became creatures of the forest. And those who shared their
food with Raven became people, and prospered ever more.

This is the only one I know by heart, and I forget which tribe it's from
NA tales in it, but aside from being a wolf, I am a packrat from a very
long line of packrats, and I can't seem to find it. I'll keep looking!
There is a nice piece of artwork in the Shaman calander for October (my
birth month!) this year called "Raven Makes Magic" which reminded me of
this one again. If anyone knows it's origins, please refresh my memory!

You'd better post the German version quicker than a boiled
asparagus.. I think it's better than the original, English version!
Thinking about it, the French one might be pretty good, too,
although I've never read it... (Je... dunno.)

Dear friends,
Anyone remember Shadowfox's post awhile back asking for our
favorite stones/metal/etc? Well, I've got a new one to add to my list:
Lynxstone. Is Walksie being delusional again, you may be asking
Nope! At least no more than usual... Lynxstone is better known as
amber, but I didn't know this until recently. In ancient Greece, amber
was thought to be crystalized lynx piss! So, anyone wanna send me a

Heh heh heh... This whole thread is amusing. Too bad I missed its
beginnings. As to piss, I remember hearing from an old room-mate while he
was drunk an interesting story. I forget the words. However, as I remember
it [ok, I was drunk too :-)], it had something to do with wolf piss being
the source of gold. And you could tell wolves were his favorite animal
too. Why?
'Aum, u, woof piss comes from a woof dick and hardens to nice shiny gold.
Woof shit hardens to [missed it]. When anothee animal pisses it stays
piss. When another animal shits it stays shit...'
Of course, 3 minutes later he runs out into the lounge screaming "I LOVE
MY DEAD GAY SON!"... So I don't take it seriously :-)
Erik would have been a hit at a howl. That guy was nuts. More than me,
actually. He tried to pull a fast one and ordered himself a parrot and me
a wolf hybrid. He got caught when the pet store called the dorm phone to
inform Erik that the hybrid was there. If you're wondering why he wanted a
parrot, it was because he wanted to train it to say "Eat a dick!"... and
he wanted to get me a wolf hybrid because the last time he got me drunk
[which was easy thanks to my medication and unfortunately he enjoyed it] I
told him I thought wolves were good drinking partners or something like
that. At least, that was our theory :-)
