1985. This was the first Halloween after I had moved down from Clark, which was south of Steamboat Springs, not far from Hahn's Peak. We were strapped for cash and living in a trailer on a lot owned by the mother of my dad's band's drummer. It was located in a small town, Wellington, near Fort Collins. Getting used to being away from the mountains for the first time in my life was a struggle. Thankfully the property we lived on was remote, and boasted a plum orchard right beside us. My make-up and antics that day at school won me newfound popularity. I had never been popular before, and the weirdest part was that I was just being me. >:-)

1985. I embraced my love for new wave music fully, and decided that cutting my long hair was a must. It was symbollic of moving forward, of bidding my childhood in the mountains farewell.

1986. A few of my best buds from Wellington Junior High on graduation day. Bittersweet, as we were moving to Hell-on Earth--er, Greeley--shortly afterwards. Check out my shoes! Man, I loved those shoes.
