Been pining for the Steamboat Springs/Continental Divide at Rabbit Ears Pass/Clark area I grew up in for many a year now. Take a gander at these enchanting photos I discovered today:

Steamboat Springs's most photographed barn. We often drove past it and I took great delight in the marmots that lived and lounged in the grass and rocks in front of it. I didn't realize at the time that they were marmots, and referred to them as Chubbies since they're sort of like bigger, lazier, darker prairie dogs.

The FM Light & Sons storefront, which is where I purchased my Breyer model horses from age 9 to 12! It hasn't changed (on the outside at least).

Space Station Gas was down the road a little ways where Dad used to play with a local band (The Country Flames -- Dad doesn't care for country music, but it was a steady gig and we needed the extra money) at a dive called Diamond B.J.'s when I was twelve. I walked over there to buy comics and candy, and to play video games.

The next few are from the gorgeous Fishreek Falls, immortalized on the Coors beer can, which is about half an hour from my one-time house on 123 Maple Street in Steamboat Springs:

And now Clark, which had a slightly deeper an impact on me than Steamboat, even though I only lived there for a year and a half:
A small picture of the Home Ranch, which was a hike's distance from our cabin across the street from the Clark General Store where my parents worked (this was two years after our music store, Steamboat Strings, went under). Yes, the mountains and woods were my backyard and it looked like this.

In all of Clark, one particular place was my everything: Pearl Lake. When I had my Will, Power of Attorney, and Funerary Codicil notarized a few years back, this is where I made it clear my ashes would be spread. Allow me to share this most amazing of places:

And, to my joy, I discovered this historical site devoted to my beloved Pearl Lake!

Will reply to comments and such tomorrow. Love you, my friends. Sleep sweetly.
