March 29th, 2008 jaunt on the 104th Trail in the driving wind. Despite the wind, it was sunny and pleasantly warm. The hanging nest bound with what is supposed to be protective seedling netting. >;-)

Close-up of growing fern-like ground cover and grass.

More ground cover, green with the Spring of life!

The log with the intricate root-work and the cottonwood behind it.

The same, slightly closer.

One view of the root-work.

Root-work, a second view.

Root-work, a third view.

Root-work, a fourth view.

Splintered area on the log's surface.

I laid my palm on the log's surface. Curiously, there were stones wedged in the cracks of the log's bark.

I brought a Cernunnos pendant with me for an offering (one I'd owned for many years: made of sterling silver, feauring a stag's head against a pentegram), and wedged it into the crack with the stones.

Beside the log.

The wind was intense the whole day, and had fun billowing my sweatshirt like a sail. The object in my lap is a portion of an old root that was partially submerged in the sandy dirt. It's not visible here, but it resembles the mandrake root in the movie "Pan's Labyrinth".

This robin surprised us by alighting on the cottonwood nearby and seemingly serenading us. It followed us for awhile. Another Breath of Spring, in step with the Growing Green.
