After the owl initially flew off, we ventured into the trees where it had been. The mosquitoes were atrocious despite being liberal doused in bug repellent. Jay retrieved another owl feather and a wild turkey feather. Near where the owl had been, Cyberwolf discovered the lower mandible of a bird--we're not sure what kind, but it's larger than that of a songbird. It's comparable to that of my great horned owl skull.

We spread out and caught this beautiful red dragonfly in repose:

Back in the marsh, Jay was surprised to look up at (what we're pretty sure is) a northern harrier. {EDIT}--Guess it's a Cooper's Hawk instead. >:-)
