Below this nest and tree lay DEATH ENCOUNTER, no. 4--a surprisingly fresh dead Great Horned Owl. It had no visible wounds or injuries:



Fifteen feet from the owl was DEATH ENCOUNTER, no. 5--a predated Wild Turkey. It's tail feathers had been sheared off by a bird of prey's talons. We figured the owl had attacked it, and either the turkey was diseased or poisoned and thus killed the owl. Or the owl choked on a turkey bone:


A Canada Goose chose then to fly overhead:
