Joy of joys!
Sep. 12th, 2010 11:57 amSpent four hours hiking yesterday on new trails. Bliss!
The boys and I explored new arteries stemming east off of the Adams County Fairgrounds park. Photographed several frolicking Killdeer on the river bank, a flying (and later, wading) Egret, a Red-tailed Hawk flying in the distance, a Great Blue Heron in a tree, other birds whose identification I'll need your expertise to determine. Jay also captured many photos of flowers, fluffy bees, other neat-looking insects and spiders whose identification I'll need your help determining, Great Horned Owl fluff near a headless mouse, a freshly killed baby bunny in a field, and various trees.
It marked my first venture into the Wild in two whole months. It was the heart of summer when last I immersed in Nature; now leaves are changing, the temperature's less oppressively hot, and different flowers have sprung up. It was at once discombobulating and freeing. Freeing to be out, of course, freeing to once more immerse in nature's flow. It was an embrace--nature's embrace, a reminder of my life and place within the grand scheme of things.
Yesterday was sunny, the sky clear, the high 81 degrees F. The sun beating down on my skin felt more cleansing than uncomfortable. It made me sweat out the remainder of the sickness, the last traces of hospital drugs, clinging to my system.
Editing pictures on photobucket.com now. Will post them ASAP.
