Where to begin?

This year’s Meet seemed more laid back, more intimate. Much of this had to do with staying in my den rather than the hotel. Staying in the hotel was fun as well, but everything here is accessible and my parents’ can help me with my needs. It causes me less stress overall as my needs grow more demanding over time.

JaneA ([livejournal.com profile] rowantree) arrived on Thursday. We went to the rather spacious and sprawling Flatirons Mall. Perused Suncoast for anime, and I suggested Grave of the Fireflies to begin JaneA’s collection. Every serious anime collector should own this powerful anti-war masterpiece.
Then it was off to Borders for caffienated fuel.
Not to embarrass JaneA, but she has changed in amazing ways. It was literally like night and day compared to our last get together three (or was it four?) years ago. It’s astounding and inspirational to see someone change so much in all the right ways. What a fun, bright, outgoing, loving, giving, open person she has become! The ingredients were always there of course, only hidden under lock and key.
I loved our time together and had great fun talking about a multitude of subjects. Thank you very much for the reiki the night of the concert, JaneA. I could honestly feel it. It was a warmth emanating from your hands and spidering through me, calming my stomach and regulating my pulse.

Kathy ([livejournal.com profile] ammit6) came early Friday, as did Mike ([livejournal.com profile] sevian). Mike was our token Faith & the Muse virgin, and boy did we pop his aural cherry big time. >;-)
That evening Jen ([livejournal.com profile] halja), her husband, Scott ([livejournal.com profile] lioninwinter) and his wife, and Margaret and Alex of The Siren Project showed up and we migrated to the living room in the house. Mom and a family friend made a veritable smorgasbord of gourmet eats for us and for Faith & the Muse, who would arrive later.
We chowed down, talked, and waited for M, W, and the gang.
The band showed up around… 11:00-ish or something? They had driven straight from California I believe, though I could be mistaken. Either way, they had gone out of their way to come that night. We had a wonderful family reunion, and we gave William his birthday gifts. We all talked as they ate, and then Monica and William began their short acoustic set. It was absolutely lovely!
Much bonding was had. I got to discuss some heavy things with M, things that have really been weighing on me. We discuss these thing in email, but to actually do so in person while looking one another in the eye is different. M is, and always has been, very healing for me. Not only the music or her voice, but something in her gaze and presence. A look, a touch, a smile. They are all lifts of the chin and encouraging pats on the back for me, like her poetry.
And William -- don’t get me started *grins*. His hugs are like buttah! He’s so funny and cuddly and wonderful.
Margaret sang beautifully, and she coaxed John Koviak into singing a few lines of a traditional Polish folksong with her. >;-)
I had the immense pleasure of talking with Kat ([livejournal.com profile] brightlyblack), who moved to California fairly recently from Norway. Ahh, land of snow and lynx! Kat was such a riot: very fun, very personable, and truly a shining heart. >:-D
Eep, getting weepy now. Happy tears, though.

(To be continued tomorrow…)
